Dancing Practice

Greetings,

At the last Baronial meeting [5/18/08], one topic of discussion was the upcoming East Providence Heritage Days demo. Specifically we talked about the possibility of doing a dance demo on the festival's main stage. As far as I know nothing has been confirmed, but since the possibility exists we (the active dancer's of the barony - myself, Asenath, Sarant, Kristen and CÊlia, along with our friends from Smoking Rocks) have begun preparing a dance program to present to the public. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to join us in this undertaking.

The Heritage Days festival will take place in East Providence over the weekend of July 18th, 19th and 20th which gives us over a month to prepare. The first practice for the demo performance will take place this Sunday, June 1, at Goff Hall in Rehoboth from 2 pm until 5 pm. Check the upcoming June issue of Notes From Underground for directions and other scheduled practices.

I would like to encourage anyone and everyone to participate. No prior dancing experience is needed. This will be a lot of fun and with your help will be a great success. I hope to see you at Goff Hall this Sunday.

If you have any questions about the demo or about dancing in the Bridge in general feel free to contact me.

In service,
Maurin Lessault

This is to announce that there will be dance practices on some upcoming Sundays in April and May and continuing throughout the summer. Dancers of all skill levels are encouraged
to join us for practice. If you are a veteran or have never danced before we invite you to come out and get some exercise.

Dance teachers from both Bridge and Smoking Rocks will be on hand to go over some old favorites as well as to teach some lesser known dances.

The next practice will be Sunday April 13 at 4:00 p.m. in Rehoboth, followed at 6 p.m. by a free potluck and dance sponsored by the Jammers. During the dance we will be doing some of our dances to live music, as well as some contra and other dance. All dances are taught.

Sunday, May 4 the practice will be at Bywater and will begin at 2:00 p.m.

If you would like to car pool to the practices, contact me for details.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water to drink.
