SCA Calendar
In SCA newsletters and award ceremonies, dates are often specified using the SCA's calendar. This calendar reckons time from the First Tournament, which was held on the first of May, in the year 1966 of the Gregorian Calendar (1966 CE or A.D. 1966).

In SCA reckoning, years are traditionally read as "Anno Societatis" (Latin for "year of the Society") followed by a number. In writing, the year usually appears as the initials A.S. followed by a roman numeral. For example:
  • April 30th, 1996 C.E. was: the 30th day of April, A.S. XXX
    and
  • May 1st, 1996 C.E. was: the 1st day of May, A.S. XXXI.
